Curacao Holiday Coastline experiencing numerous Shark Encounters

There are several kind of sharks invading and terrorizing the public health on the Dutch colonial island of Curacao. The situation developing near the coastline are the most worrisome to the local born citizens.

On the north coast of the island, Tiger Sharks are feeding on lobsters, while on the south side of Curacao, its more the nursing kind of shark feeding on conch and other shell animals.

The tourism industry is guiding the shocking development. The Curacao coastline has been infested by the worst kind of sharks in existence, the human sharks! NGO’s are the ones using the bait for the human trafficking business to be successfully envisioned.

The sharks swimming in the sea around the island of Curacao are the least kind of problem to be resolved. The most dangerous sharks are lurking for food along the northern coastline according to local fisherman, whom income is being threatened by the tourism industry.

At one time oceanic white-tips were thought to have been among the most numerous pelagic (open ocean) sharks on the planet.

An authoritative 1969 book, The Natural History of Sharks, even characterized them as possibly the most abundant large animal, large being over 100 pounds, on the face of the Earth.

Once known for besieging shipwrecks and fishing boats, they’ve now all but disappeared because of commercial fishing and the shark fin trade—with surprisingly little scientific attention and even less public concern.

We’ve absolutely annihilated the species on a global scale, says Demian Chapman, one of the few scientists who have studied the shark. And yet when I say ‘oceanic white-tips,’ a lot of people have no idea what I’m talking about.

Not to be confused with the smaller white-tip reef shark, this striking pelagic species is one of the most dynamic animals you can encounter whilst diving in the Red Sea.

Oceanic white-tips are opportunistic and inquisitive pelagic predators, but by following a few simple instructions from your dive guide, you can ensure a safe and responsible, up-close encounter with this incredibly powerful shark species.

These solitary ocean-goers are easily identified by their elongated, rounded and white-tipped dorsal and pectoral fins, and impressive stature – growing up to four-metres in length!

The shallow waters next to the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort are teeming with invasive lion fish, and Kneus, an accomplished lion fish hunter, knows where they are hiding.

They’re not easy to find, says Kneus, who runs a business called Lionfish Caribbean, which turns these unwanted predators into jewelry. “But with some practice, you develop a sense of focus — and then you see them.

Hotels on Curaçao are doing everything for the tourism industry from reef cleanup to next-level conservation initiatives to preserve the fragile Caribbean ecosystem.

Even Fabien Cousteau, grandson of famed explorer Jacques Cousteau, is about to become a player in this island’s sustainability landscape.

In the ocean food chain, large sharks generally only have to worry about keeping Orca’s at bay — but a new study suggests the apex predators may have to watch out for their own.

Shark attacks get a lot of attention for how rare they are. This is not to say the risk should be ignored. Just recently, three attacks occurred in Walton County, Florida.

No lives were lost but two of the victims sustained significant injuries–amputations were necessary in both cases.

Compare the 141 known shark attack fatalities with other risks and it paints a stark picture. For example, between the years 1959 and 2010, approximately 2000 people were killed by lightning in coastal areas of the United States.

During that same 50-year time period, 26 people died from a shark bite. These shark bite numbers also pale in comparison to other animal-related fatalities, such as venomous snakebites, which cause over 100,000 deaths each year.

Or, consider the risk of drowning. The odds of drowning in the ocean in the United States is about 1 in 3.5 million. The odds of experiencing a deadly shark bite is less than 1 in 264 million.

White sharks are formidable predators of the ocean. Ranging from 15 to 20 feet in length and equipped with rows of razor-sharp teeth, they are apex predators capable of inflicting serious harm.

Their acute senses, powerful jaws and opportunistic feeding behavior mean they can attack anything that resembles prey, including humans.

Tiger sharks, known for their size, power, and indiscriminate feeding behavior, rank among the ocean’s most dangerous predators and are found in large numbers on the northern parts of Curacao. Over-there they hunt for lobsters.

Growing up to 18 feet long and weighing over 2,000 pounds, they wield formidable jaws lined with razor-sharp teeth, capable of inflicting severe harm.

Their opportunistic diet, which includes a wide array of prey, and their tendency to scavenge, heighten the risk they pose to anything that crosses their path, including humans.

  1. However the most dangerous sharks are the ones living on land, impoverishing the local community at the expense of glorified super polluting tourism.
